We’re currently not actively recruiting for the Community Insights Panel. However, if you’re interested in future activities, please contact Laura Hill [email protected] or complete the form below and we may be in touch if an opportunity arises.
What is the purpose of the Community Insights Panel (CIP)?
You’re invited to apply to join Breakthrough T1D’s Community Insights Panel (CIP). Your voice will offer insights into life with T1D that could help guide Breakthrough T1D’s research programs and initiatives.
By joining the CIP, you’ll have the opportunity to connect directly with researchers to help deepen their understanding of life with T1D. This will ensure our research agenda remains focused on the needs of people living with T1D and meaningful progress for the T1D community.
As a member, your engagement will be tailored to your interests, where possible.
What will being a CIP member involve?
The CIP will meet quarterly, usually online, to discuss topics related to Breakthrough T1D-supported research.
As a CIP member, you may have the opportunity to engage across various research-related activities, such as (but not limited to):
- providing your lived experience insights on new therapies, research ideas or projects
- working with researchers to help shape and strengthen the design, delivery of and community relevance of research
- participating as a lived experience reviewer on selected grant applications
- providing insight into the needs and priorities of the T1D community at workshops or research events
- connecting with researchers to help them better understand the experiences and priorities of people living with T1D
- championing Breakthrough T1D’s major research programs by helping more people understand our mission and research focus.
You’ll be offered training sessions throughout the year to ensure you feel supported and up to date on our research agenda.
What is the time commitment?
As a member of the CIP, we expect you to attend and contribute to the online meetings held every 3 months. We ask our members to serve a term of 2 years on the panel.
Involvement may also include short-term or topic-specific engagement opportunities outside the CIP where your lived experience and expertise may be particularly relevant. These opportunities will be discussed with you in advance, and the expected time commitment will be agreed upon up front so you can decide whether you’d like to be involved.
You may receive remuneration for certain engagement opportunities you participate in. This will be discussed with you during an onboarding call.
Who we’re looking to hear from
We’re looking for a broad range of experiences and perspectives, seeking people:
- of different ages and stages of T1D
- who are carers or direct family members of someone living with T1D
- from different cultural backgrounds
- who live in metropolitan, regional and remote areas
- of different life experiences.
You don’t need a scientific background. What matters is your passion for Breakthrough T1D’s research, and a desire to share your experiences.
There are 12 spots on the CIP. We may not be able to offer a place to everyone who expresses interest, but all applications will be carefully considered to help ensure the panel represents a broad range of perspectives.
